MMO-Champion - WoW Down to 7.1 Million Subscribers
We're down to 7.1 Million Subscribers and it isn't even the last phase of the Expansion yet. Interesting? Normal? Scary?
I can't say I'm too surprised, look at how empty WoW's Twitch section is, but I also have faith that Blizzard can pull themselves back.

Lol was just about to post this article. And yes I was talking to a few ppl in TS the other day explaining the decline in subs and they argued thats not the case but more proof. WoW is always on a downward spiral after a expack release. And then picks back up when a new one drops due to hype. But I think there is no coming back to it and all Blizz is talking about is how long there run has been and profit margins. When there is more talk about that than actual game play its time to throw in the towel and jump ship.
Also I dont think they will recover much if at all, the new token system while nice for those without the income, was god awful 5$ more than a actual sub and on alot of servers no coins available. Also lack of launch content was pretty bad. I love WoW always have but after 10 years the game is finally coming to a end I believe.
They stopped listening to the community and when people bring up real issues they write them off and then talk to some smuck asking about better transmog options...

nah this will kick them in the ass.
They will up the ante again somehow. it will rebound it always does, there is still easily another 3 xpacs to go without a doubt.

Although it should be noted that WoW is still the subcription MMO with by far the most players. Yeah, the zenith is maybe exceeded but I would be surprised if there would come an shutdown before another three expansions are out. In the end it all takes the stakeholders to the simple revenue-thing. If Blizzard is making a considerable amount of cash with it they won't end this episode (and WoW could easily loss another 3 or 4 million subs and would likely be anyway profitable). They stopped listening to the community and when people bring up real issues they write them off and then talk to some smuck asking about better transmog options...

Yeah this also happened before WoD just not this quickly. When I first started playing it was still fairly popular and when the expansion came out it was crazy the amount of players. But how many more expansions can they release just upping the level cap and basically the same kind of content.

How low of a number do you think it will take for them to go free to play? 5 million? one million? Ever?

Blizzard will scrap WoW before they ever make it F2P. Sadly they would rather kill it than let it get to that. Also they did ban another 500k bot accounts in attempts to boost numbers again in rebuys lol. Loose a bunch of subs and potential income, ban all the bots so they rebuy to boost our numbers again and revenue keeps coming in to keep shareholders happy.
Honestly its been happening a long while now WoW is a sinking ship that has been slowly sinking all in the face of keep shareholders happy. But this has been happening since 2007/08 when the offically became Blizzardactivison

It's a roller coaster to be sure. Just look at Twitch after the banwave, WoW is back up to 23k viewers.
