So I was one of the lucky folks that got the Necromancer Beta invite.
Necromancer was one of my favorite classes in Diablo 2. I loved all the abilities and to command an army of skeletons and golems was something that I loved - in Diablo 3, I felt that the witch doctor was a half-hearted attempt to emulate these abilities while putting a new spin on it. Apples and oranges, I know.
However, I tried out the necromancer tonight, and after a short amount of gameplay I got to level 46ish before logging off for the night. I have to say... I really love some of the abilities. They are not terribly comparable to other classes and keep that necromancer feel. There is nothing more gratifying than corpse exploding up chains of dense packs. I'm a terrible person, but I enjoy the small things in life.
I am so far really attached to my blood golem - I thought it looked a little cheesy from the gameplay videos. I hope to hit 70 soon so I can test out the other builds and sets.
So far... my conclusion is this: The class feels very fresh compared to what exists in the realm of Diablo 3. I love it. I cannot wait to hit 70 and play around.
TIP: Max your blood shards and wait a little bit before logging in. When you go into the beta and do a PTR copy, you will have max bloodshards so you can buy the 500-shard satchels containing the sets so you can jump almost immediately into a functional build. I haven't gotten any new class-oriented legendaries yet, so we will see how those affect the builds within those set pieces.
I hope you guys enjoy, and share your experiences and thoughts based on your time within the beta. I don't really care for a lot of, "well I saw the videos and it sucks." Experience it for yourself, and post your conclusions.

Wouldn't know, haven't gotten an invite yet. Hoping to get one so I can try before I buy, otherwise I might just skip getting the necro as it doesn't appear as if it will change up the game much outside of giving us a new class to do the same things all over again.

So I had the chance to actually play some of the new maps, and I really love their layouts. They are appearing in Nephs/GRs as well, and have some great flow to them. I think it will really help shake up the map repetitiveness in those areas. I feel they really fall in line with the aesthetic of the Necromancer class/lore.
I haven't had a chance to play the campaign for act IV - which is where the new zones are located. There seems to be a bit of a story to the flow of the maps, but it seems the objective points that are not yet implemented. I will try to get some screenshots over the weekend.

I'm in the process of leveling on the beta now so far the necromancer feels pretty good but I haven't reached level 70 yet to try out the sets once I do I'm sure I will like it more since ill have all of my abilities as well. I think my favorite set is going to be the pet oriented one compared to the others.

So whats the class feel like? Not sure if you can talk about it or if there was a NDR...Im curious, Ive heard that its a fund class that it suffers in groups as it doest have a roll. What are the set pieces like? Any info you could pass along would be cool....I deleted my beta key as Im not playing the game atm, but Im liking the goodies that comes with the necro....so maybe in the future I would be inclined to grab it on release.

I will be making a push to 70 this weekend, and when I get enough blood shards to purchase all thr set satchels I will post those and my solo/grouo experiences.
I feel a lot of the skills really flow together, and will be trying to come up with builds and giving them an honest review of the playstyle.
Yesterday was a fun oncology appointment so I didn't have time to log in to D3 or the beta.

I haven't been impressed with the Necro.. it feels slow and badly put together. The attacks are alright, but really so far I'd say it hasn't made the game any better for me or to me. It's just a slightly different class but it isn't game changing or game saving. Unless things really change once you hit 70, I doubt it will, I'd say the Necro DLC better not be more than 14.99 for me that's the price break point on this material and it doesn't show me any hope for the Diablo franchise with Blizzard.
If they set the price less than 15 bucks then it's probably worth it if you really really wanted to play Necro.. if it's more than 15 bucks then Blizzards' just ripping people off and at 15 bucks it's worth it for people who just want something new or different in D3 and aren't concerned about Diablo future but that's just my opinion.
