I did a fun set of threads like this back in my hay day and wanted to bring back some fun, with a twist.

We are going to build the greatest NFL team of all time by all of your votes, Fever members votes! It will be fun to build a team of what Fever believes to be the greatest team to hit the field of any time.

We started with Offensive Tackles, to which the members of Fever selected Walter Jones and Anthony Munoz!

Next we moved on to Running Backs, to which the clan chose an absolute athlete, Barry Sanders!

Now then voted on DEs and you chose REGGIE WHITE & DEACON JONES!

Who are we drafting now? CB's! Vote on who you think is the greatest CB of all time. The highest 2 vote getters will be our number 1 and 2 CBs. If you don't like the choices I have given, go for the write in spot. Vote away and enjoy building Fever's Fantasy football team!

EDIT: If you choose 'WRITE IN VOTE' make sure to write the players name in a post within the thread. Thanks.

Here is the team so far:

Yeah, disappointing...

I voted for Dick Lane. I'm at work right now so I don't have time to break down my opinions on the guys listed, but you really can't go wrong with any of these guys. Mel Blount is responsible for the 5 yd rule, Dick Lane is the reason they don't allow the horse collar tackle anymore, and the rest of the guys are all shutdown types, who quite frankly, were lucky to get the interceptions that they did get -- because nobody threw to their side. My favorite modern era guy is Rod Woodson -- All-Pro at all three DB positions, 71 picks, and he liked to hit people. My kind of guy :)

Just glancing back at that list -- shame on you LT. No Mike Haynes? That guy was great with NE, and then really hit his stride with the Raiders. Lester Hayes got a lot of pub because of his mouth and tactics -- but Haynes was the man.

I voted Rod Woodson cause he was just solid year in and year out, I believe Ronnie Lott was a saftey and Roy Williams breaking TO's leg is why there is a horse collar rule. All these guys were great players.

On a side note do we have a fever fantasy football league?

You're right about Roy Williams being the official reason why that play is illegal. My point about Dick Lane (and Mel Blount for that matter) is that those guys made a living employing that tactic -- lol.

Regarding Ronnie Lott, he played all over the backfield throughout his career, though he made his true mark as a Safety. As much as I liked Lott (despite his being a 49er), i was always partial to Kenny Easley being the man at Safety in that era. He laid down a lot of boom in the 6 years that he played, but couldn't stay healthy.

Actually Roy Williams is the reason they don't allow the horse collar tackle anymore. He broke TO's leg with it, and the next season it was banned.

Anyway - I was too late for the real poll, but I would have voted Deion Sanders here. His ability to shut down a receiver was uncanny, and he was also one of the best return men in league history.

See my other post about the horse collar. I like Sanders, but even though he had a stocky 6' frame -- he wouldn't tackle. I like tacklers and itters, so he would have been a tough choice for me.
