I did a fun set of threads like this back in my hay day and wanted to bring back some fun, with a twist.
We are going to build the greatest NFL team of all time by all of your votes, Fever members votes! It will be fun to build a team of what Fever believes to be the greatest team to hit the field of any time.
So lets start with my favorites...the Offensive line!
Vote on who you think is the greatest offensive tackle of all time. The two highest vote getters will anchor down our OL on the outside. If you don't like the choices I have given, go for the write in spot. Vote away and enjoy building Fever's Fantasy football team!
EDIT: If you choose 'WRITE IN VOTE' make sure to write the players name in a post within the thread.

yeah, the problem is i don't think most people recognize the greatest o-tackles. They aren't as big as a household name as others

Just saw this. The guys listed are all fantastic, but Anthony Munoz is probably the best combination of size/athletic ability on this list, and period. I saw footage of him playing SS on an A level softball team (during the off season) -- and he was ridiculous. Going horizontal, sucking everything up -- at 285 pounds (good size during the 80's), making it look easy. Guys like Forrest Gregg and Gene Upshaw are known for being tough, mean, and nasty, but you don't have to be an asshole to be awesome. Munoz was quiet tough (like Walter Jones). He'd bull you on your ass all game long, and then give you a smile and a head not when it was over. Getting your ass beat all day long, and the guy doesn't cheap shot you, or try to beat you up? That's just humiliating. You can't lean on tactics or aggression as to why you got beat -- you just have to accept the fact that he beat you every play with skill and technique. Now I come from the other side of that equation -- the beat your ass side. I had very little athletic ability, so I used intimidation, physicality (no cheap stuff though, that's low-end in my book), my mouth, and my wits to beat you. When I ran into a guy that was just physically powerful with a skill set to match, and he ignored all of my tactical stuff...it just makes a guy feel like you don't even belong on the field.
That's Anthony Munoz in a nutshell. I would honestly put Walter Jones right behind him. Same kind of player -- just light years ahead of his peers in technique and athletic ability. Pretty sure if you look at the numbers, Walter Jones gave up something like 19 sacks in his entire career -- and 5-6 of those came in his last couple years, when he was injured, and trying to come back from micro-fracture surgery (basically playing on one pin). Seriously tough dude. The other guys on that list are all fantastic players as well, so you really can't lose.

Alright, some talk!
Next time I will do something a little more 'household' (RBs, QBs, WRs etc.) However, you can't build ANY football team without your Offensive Tackles
As for my choice, Walter Jones (yeah maybe I am a bit biased, so sue me). Watching Jones play was amazing to see! I never remember a player in any decade that every coach, player and commentator agreed he was the absolute best at his position, he really was. Years ahead of the average tackle in athleticism AND technique. He was huge and just darn good. And he was always rewarded with 9 All-Star selections (over 13 seasons) and a stretch from 2001-08 going to Hawaii 8 straight seasons! Also, the fact he played every pro season with one team shows a dedication you just don't see in the modern NFL.
Of course ALL of these guys are good (most are already in the HoF) but my #1 is Mr. Jones.
I'LL POST THE NEXT POLL ON SUNDAY

The winners are....
WALTER JONES and ANTHONY MUOZ.
Since Walter was our top vote getter we will stick him at LT and Anthony at RT
Next step....lets find ourselves a running back!
