Research: Free to Play Game of the Month (1 Viewer)

This idea has been around for a least a couple years withing some of the people in Fever. We feel that this needs to get implemented.

Idea:
Each member downloads and Free to Play Game designated by the Games administrator. This game will be played for a month with members. We will have mini competitions and events in the game in regard.

Flow process of Idea:
A week before the coming month there will be a game link in a post for each member to download and create an account and etc... When people have downloaded it people will group in Teamspeak rooms and work together playing it. After a few weeks we compare characters or scores depending on the game and host events relevant to the game and such. At the conclusion of the game of the month, a new game will be decided and rinse and repeat the process.

Goals:
There are a few things that can be accomplished and positive benefits to Fever and the member core.
- New games that people might enjoy playing.
- Depending on the game, Recruitment opportunities
- Have fun with fellow members in games that is not of the common core.
- Possibility of involvement of more members and more activity with members participating.

Things that need worked on:
- Need to establish a set of guidelines of games that would be part of this.
- Types of events that will be held in respective games.
- Logistics of communication for the running of this reoccurring monthly event.
- Methods of proper running and keeping eveyone interested.

All of this sounds pretty solid to me, but the only thing I can think of is that the free-to-play game would have to be something that isn't going to simply be a "fad" for about a week or 2, it has to have enough content in it for a long-term plan and if the general populous enjoys playing it in general and then enjoys playing it with others.

I can understand the issues with this, Trust me I have seen it many times over and over again. I feel that it should stick for a month and maybe we can kindle more games that Fever as a whole plays.

Welp, I was hoping with this system that we could make it a surprise, they get a week to download it, you start playing on X day, you don't give them a day that they have to stop playing but you do let people know that each month we'll be starting a new rotation, so if they decide to stop playing said game they can. This will require it's own Sub-Forum as threads would get out of hand, as I'd prefer that a single thread is made for each game if possible where everyone can communicate. Thus a announcement thread is 1, then a research thread is put up that explains what the game is and how it works, then finally a dicussion thread about classes, or strategies or anything within that.

The Admin will have ot be a person who has the ability to bounce from game to game. [MENTION=26029]Snailey[/MENTION] do you mind sending a pm to Viizion to see if it's something he'd like, he bounces more then most people but doesn't mind organizing games and groups for periods of time, if he doesn't want it, we'll find another. I'm asking for a outside admin just so the team knows, because there's virtually no roster in the retention dept. and I'd like to change that if possible.

Keep in mind this is not a game night, so much as a game month. Thus when each game is rotated into, we'll make a channel for it if it doesn't already have one, also I may strong arm the choice if I feel like it's a game we can recruit for that has a lot of valid options. Example: Marvel Heroes is making a comeback, it's ftp, it's on steam, and it's won numerous awards over the last few months because there's so much to do, I've been playing it myself and find that there is a ton of shit to do.

Idea: We can rotate game admins, we assign them each month to correspond with the game, however if possible I'd always prefer a Officer. [MENTION=34267]Kesem[/MENTION] can prob lead the Marvel Heroes part as he's interested in it.

Snailey I'd like a post made about this in Members disc. that we're going to be starting a event like this, with a announcement of what hte game is within a week of your post. You don't have to go into the admin of it just the idea and that each month we'll announce a different game to test as a whole.

Been talking to Snailey about this and am more then interested with helping.

I believe there are a total of 10 MMOs/free-to-play games listed on MMOHut and MMOBomb that I haven't played XD

I can help make game suggestions and am pretty knowledgeable with most games.

Damn lol I was going to make a meaningful post starting quite a few of whats been said here but life came up and took my free time.

Suggestions:

-Don't let the community decide the game. If you have them vote about 95% of the people that vote wont even bothering showing up once.
-I wouldn't say a week notice, with the shittest of PCs, they would need no longer than 3 days. Othewise you'll get people playing the game early and getting burned out on it early.
-A post on the official forums of the game of each month stating who we are and that we are coming to said game.
-Will post more, later, very tired XD
