The most recent Fortnite update added in some new consumables, weapons and fixes. A new limited time event mode is going live as well, following up the exciting Avengers: Infinity War crossover, but this event is a bit different from all the others. Instead of manipulating the core game, the Solo Showdown event is a test for esports that will send ripples into Fortnite's future.
In Fortnite Battle Royale Solo Showdown, players will be taking on other competitors for a chance at rewards on five tiers:
1st Place: 50,000 V-bucks
2nd - 4th Place: 25,000 V-bucks
5th - 50th Place: 13,500 V-bucks
51st - 100th Place: 7,500 V-bucks
Epic Games will be tracking the first 50 Showdown LTM matches for each individual and the collective performances here will determine the placement for each player. The contest starts today and ends on May 21, 2018, at 10:00 AM ET. You can find the rules for eligibility on the official website.
The maximum score that a player can achieve is 5,000, but that would mean finishing in first place for all 50 of your Solo Showdown matches. Get some practice knocked out in the standard solo queue in Fortnite Battle Royale, but make sure you get your 50 placement matches done before the end date.
