Diablo 3 Event

Season 14 Leveling Event & Competition: "Diablo 3 Couples Leveling Event from Hell"

Friday @ 5:00 p.m. PST / 8:00 p.m. EST on June 15, 2018

Please be there 30 minutes early to begin setting up groups.

This season we're looking at doing something a bit different. Rather than forming complete groups, we're going to go with a mixer theme. Pick your partner, and then you will be assigned with another team to form your group of 4. If you don't have a partner, that's fine too. We'll be forming up groups of people who are flying solo that night. There will be rewards for the first 3 groups to hit 70, and an honorable mention for the 4th group. Please sign up with your partner so we can estimate how many discord channels we'll need.

If you are positive you can't stay the whole way to 70, please let the officers know so we can group those people accordingly.

Rules are the same as always, it's simply the first 4 man group to have all 4 members reach level 70 wins the event for the night. All participants will receive 500 Fever Coins for participating. ALL GROUP PARTICIPANTS MUST BE FEVER MEMBERS, REGISTERED WITH D3 AS THEIR MAIN OR ALT GAME, REGISTERED IN THE FEVER IN-GAME CLAN (Fever 1 or 2), AND BE LOGGED INTO DISCORD IN THE D3 SECTION TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE AWARDS. THIS EVENT IS BEING COORDINATED AND HOSTED THROUGH DISCORD, WHICH IS WHY IT'S A REQURIEMENT. Winners will be verified by Gizmo256, Ghist, and VioletShadow.

To submit your proof of leveling/group - please submit a screenshot directly to the #d3 channel in discord, showing your whole group and the timestamp from in-game. Discord makes it easy to post screenshots, simply hit the print screen button and paste into discord.

This event is being held on the NA servers only. While we would like to host this on the EU servers as well, we do not have enough member participation at this time to host such an event.

Note: If there are any changes or events not listed, please contact any of the Fever Weekly staff.

Game Nights:

If you would like to help ensure your game's game nights, events, etc. are listed and want to have the ability to post them on the calendar, please let Linessah know.

If your game nights do not appear on this calendar over the next few days, please let Linessah, MrCruz , Demonya , or Aussietye know. They will get them squared away. All can be found on discord as well.

To convert the times to your timezone, use the following tool: Time Zone Converter. Please check the Discord Events channel for reminders about events. Also with some game nights being made up for that day due to the people whom are on.

Microsoft Will Acquire Coding Site GitHub

For Microsoft Corp., acquiring GitHub Inc. would be both a return to the company’s earliest roots and a sharp turnaround from where it was a decade ago.

The software maker has agreed to acquire GitHub, the code-repository company popular with many software developers, and could announce the deal as soon as Monday, according to people familiar with the matter.

Microsoft’s origin story lies in the market for software-development tools. Decades before former Chief Executive Officer Steve Ballmer jumped up and down on a stage, cheering for "developers, developers, developers," Bill Gates and Paul Allen co-founded the company to give hobbyists a way to program a new micro-computer kit, the MITS Altair.

But even as Ballmer celebrated the developers building proprietary software for Microsoft, in the early 2000s he and his executive team were highly critical of the kind of open-source program built in GitHub today. Open-source software allows developers to tinker with, improve upon and share code -- an approach that threatened Microsoft’s business model. A lot has changed since then, and under CEO Satya Nadella, Microsoft is supporting many flavors of Linux and has used open-source models on some significant cloud and developer products itself.

Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft is now one of the biggest contributors to GitHub, and as Nadella moves the company away from complete dependence on the Windows operating system to more in-house development on Linux, the company needs new ways to connect with the broader developer community.

GitHub preferred selling the company to going public and chose Microsoft partially because it was impressed by Nadella, said one of the people, who asked not to be identified discussing private information. Terms of the agreement weren’t known on Sunday. GitHub was last valued at $2 billion in 2015.

Frank Shaw, a spokesman for Microsoft, declined to comment. GitHub didn’t return an email seeking comment on a potential agreement.

San Francisco-based GitHub is an essential tool for coders. Many corporations, including Microsoft and Alphabet Inc.’s Google, use it to store their corporate code and to collaborate. It’s also a social network of sorts for developers. Still, GitHub’s losses have been significant -- it lost $66 million over three quarters in 2016 -- and it has been hunting for a new CEO for nine months. The company had revenue of $98 million in nine months of 2016.

In August, GitHub announced that it was looking for a CEO to replace Chris Wanstrath, one of the company’s co-founders. In the interim, GitHub’s Chief Business Officer Julio Avalos joined the company’s board of directors and took over much of the day-to-day leadership of the company.

Microsoft has talked to GitHub, which hosts 27 million software developers working on 80 million repositories of code, on and off for a few years. Recently they began talks about a partnership but progressed to discussing an acquisition, according to another person familiar with the situation.

Bethesda before E3 2018: Fallout 76

The briefest of teasers for the next game in the Fallout series left fans reeling, but so far Bethesda isn’t saying much about Fallout 76. We’re not even 100 percent sure where it takes place. But we do have a pretty good idea of when: Oct. 27, 2102. Based on the canonical Fallout timeline, that puts the game about 60 years before the original Fallout and at least 150 before the events of Falllout 3, Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 4.

There’s lots of speculation about what the game could be like. Sources tell Kotaku that there will be an online component, while sources tell Polygon that the game will feature multiplayer action. We’ll know more on June 10.

Battlefield 5's 'Airborne' mode will parachute players into the fight

Last week's big Battlefield 5 reveal gave us the basics of what's in store—it'll be set in World War 2, and people will shoot at each other—but there's still quite a bit we don't know. EA revealed one such unknown element on Twitter yesterday, a new attack-and-defend game mode called Airborne, in which one team drops from the sky to destroy some artillery, while the other does its best to keep the guns firing.

Predictably, EA didn't break down how exactly the system will work. My first thought is that it might be reminiscent of the old Timegate shooter Section 8, which eliminated fixed spawn points in favor of player-selected drops, but I don't think that would fit very well with the idea of coordinated attack and defense forces in big Battlefield 5 brawls. Balancing the teams will be an interesting issue too. Airborne attacks work because they drop guys behind the lines, where enemy forces are thin and unprepared, and portraying that in the context of a videogame without making people angry will be a challenge. Remember how annoyed Star Wars Battlefront players were when the Empire kept stomping the guts out of the Rebellion on Hoth?

Details on the new mode will no doubt be revealed during EA's press event at E3, but in advance of that you can get a closer look at what's coming (but not this new mode, alas) in the new "deep dive" into Battlefield 5's gameplay changes and additions. It focuses on the two "key elements" of immersion and squad play, and while it's mostly stuff that's already been revealed, like changes to movement and elimination of "random bullet deviation," it's a handy way to get caught up in a hurry.

Lords of the Fallen 2 is still in development, but now a new studio is involved

When it released in 2014, Lords of the Fallen was among the first third-person action games to directly ape the Dark Souls series: it had challenging combat, miserly checkpointing, and plenty of stamina bar watching. Now, after a period of uncertainty, CI Games has confirmed a sequel to the game is still happening, only it's now in development by a New York-based studio called Defiant (no, not the same studio who made Hand of Fate 2).

CI Games made the announcement today, but didn't mention when the sequel would launch, nor any other pertinent details, though it will release for both consoles and PC. Defiant is a new studio with no previous titles to its name, though it does reportedly boast talent who have worked with Just Cause creators Avalanche Studios.

"We talked to a number of globally respected studios that had shown a strong interest in making the next LotF, and received several solid pitches," CI Games CEO Marek Tymiński said in a statement. "We finally decided to move forward with Defiant because we were impressed with their game concept, production expertise, and the pedigree of their developers."

The first Lords of the Fallen game was also a joint production: between CI Games and Deck13. The latter went on to release The Surge in 2017, a sci-fi spin on the Souls formula which had a few neat ideas of its own.

As for CI Games, Lords of the Fallen 2 was announced almost immediately after the first released in 2014. A former developer on the series, Tomasz Gop, said last year that the game hadn't yet left the "concept/vision" stage. According to Gop, CI Games' ambitions for the sequel had been heavily downsized following the disappointing Sniper Ghost Warrior 3. Whether that remains the case now that the game is in the hands of Defiant Studios, isn't clear.

I can't even begin to say how pumped I am to try Defiance 2050. I freaking LOVED that game, easily put 200 hours into Defiance when I played it a few years back.
